First Week of School

Wow! What a great week. We started the week tired and ended even more so.
We created our social contract (“the rules of the class”), read, remember our basic addition and subtraction facts, learned 5 things about everyone in the class, and helped Mrs. Hall remember everyone’s name! We have been busy.

Enjoy your weekend and I will see you Monday morning.

Students, I hope 3rd grade isn’t as bad as you thought.

Important beginning of the year information

Here’s some helpful information for the beginning of the year:
• 3rd grade fees: $7.00 student planner & folder, $8 computer flash drive, $4.00 Weekly Reader, $2.00 science supplies (CASH ONLY), $3.00 party money (CASH ONLY) You may write a check for $19.00 payable to White Oak Intermediate, but the $5 for science and parties must be paid in cash. Your child will receive 10 teacher bucks when all fees have been paid!
• Students may bring a water bottle each day. The bottle MUST be ROOM TEMPERATURE and have a POP-TOP lid. Cold water, screw-on lids, and flavored water will not be allowed. The water bottles WILL NOT BE REFILLED AT SCHOOL!! Bottles will be taken home each night for cleaning.
• Students may also bring a healthy snack each day. Please find the link for the healthy snack list on the left-hand side of my blog. Foods that do not follow the nutritional guidelines set forth by the state will not be allowed. No drinks other than water will be allowed at snack time.
• Tennis shoes must be worn on PE days. My PE days are Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday
• The student planner is an important tool used for teacher and parent communication. While it is the student’s responsibility to keep it updated and obtain a parent signature each night, it is also helpful for the parents to ask to see it each night.
• In order for an absence to be excused, a note or an email explaining the child’s absence must be sent to the teacher upon the child’s return to school. (May be written in planner.)
• Any change in bus transportation MUST be cleared with Richard Medlin in the transportation department, 903/291-2149.

Summer is almost over.

Welcome back to school! Hope everyone has their registration packets turned in. Please come by Thursday, August 19th from 4:30-5:30 to meet your teacher and drop of your school supplies. This will be one less thing to carry on your first day of school 🙂 Parents, our teacher blogs are set up to supply information to you so that you can see what your child is up to at school.
